Territories
+ The Land of Tynsen is a fully connected map, divided into many territories. Some territories possess a L'kyr, which is a giant rock which protrudes from the ground. The territories containing these L'kyr are subject to magical influences; territories which lack L'kyr exist by the same rules of nature here on Earth. L'kyran RP boards will be indicated by a green name.
+ All territories, excluding packlands, are accessible to all wolves, regardless of their magical status.
+ Wolves which reside in L'kyr territories (and the territories themselves) are called L'kyrans; wolves from Earth-like territories are most often called offlanders, or sometimes Tynsens.
+ Wolves who wish to enter pack lands must first get permission from the pack's Alpha, or any wolf the Alpha has authorized to recieve guests. It is considered bad form to attack any wolf requesting permission to enter; however, wolves who cross the border uninvited are liable to be attacked and killed.
+ L'kyr produce healing energy, therefore, on L'kyran lands, wolves may only die at the discretion of the player; the worst that can happen is a debilitating injury. OFF L'kyran lands, wolves may die if they lose a fight, critically fail a hunting attempt with fewer than two other wolves in the hunting party, or as a result of a natural disaster or disease. Natural disasters and diseases are rare, and a 48 hour notice will be given before they strike. This will allow everyone to find shelter (either in a L'kyran land to eliminate chance of injury/death or in a natural structure to reduce the chance of injury/death). Please note that the odds of death are normally quite low to start with, though the odds of injury are higher. Unlike other L'kyran effects, "immortality" is revoked or granted the moment a wolf crosses the border of a L'kyran land. This allows easy control of the realism of combat or hunting: if you want the risk, hunt/fight off L'kyran lands; if not, do it on L'kyran lands.
+ "L'kyr" is pronounced "Lick-ear"; "L'kyran" is pronounced "Lick-ear-an". The singular form of the word is the same as the plural (usage: "a L'kyr", "two L'kyr"). "Likyr/Likyran" and "Lkyr/Lkyran" are accepted alternative spellings. "Tynsen" is pronounced "Tin-sen". Proper capitalization is required.
+ A Tynsen can become a L'kyran by remaining on L'kyran land for four consecutive threads and/or seven consecutive in-game days. A L'kyran can become a Tynsen by remaining off L'kyran land in the same way. For more information, see the "Lkyr and Magic" section below.
L'kyr and Magic
+ Magical powers are gained by proximity to a L'kyr.
+ If a Tynsen character creates or participates in four separate threads, without entering any new threads or creating new threads outside L'kyran lands (continuing old threads is permitted), they are eligible to become L'kyrans, unless they leave L'kyran lands without doing so.
+ If a player does not receive a response to his/her created thread within two hours, s/he may edit the thread to indicate that their wolf has been in the area for a full day. If s/he does not receive a response to their reply to an existing thread (including threads created by the player) within 24 hours, s/he may create a new thread.
+ L'kyrans may also become Tynsens by this method.
+ The threads do not have to be "intended" for this purpose. If a L'kyran creates four consecutive threads or spends seven consecutive days away from a L'kyr, they will lose their magical abilities and have to regain them. Similarly, if a Tynsen creates four consecutive threads or spends seven consecutive days near a L'kyr, they may gain magical abilities.
+ Gaining powers must be RPed out, and occurs during the fourth thread or on the seventh day. This may or may not be done with a Spirit Wolf. Gaining a L'kyran appearance must also be RPed out, but takes place over time; for example, a wolf may start out black and slowly gain bright red lightning bolts down his sides. This may be done over the course of a few posts, or throughout several months in-game.
+ A character who spends equal amounts of time in both lands is eligible for "limited" L'kyran status (application is still required). A limited L'kyran has a full complement of magical abilities, but they are weak because they spend too much time away from L'kyr. An example would be a wolf with the power to shoot fireballs and bright red fur whose Tynsen form is a simple grey wolf; as a limited L'kyran, he might present as a reddish-brown wolf with the ability to light fires but not control them. Alternatively, he might still be bright red but have no actual abilities, or be grey with nearly full power. The point here is that powers fade slowly over time, and recharge relatively quickly.
+ Pups born on L'kyran lands start out as Tynsens and grown into their powers as they age, gaining their full abilities in adolescence.
+ How the magic affects your character is almost entirely up to you. They can have special powers of your own design which function in whatever way you want, unnatural markings and outright fur colors are allowed, "hair", jewelry, wings, shapeshifting... you can do almost anything. Get creative! There are a few constraints:
- + Flying is only permitted if your wolf has wings of some sort. They can be any type, any color, any size; they just have to be there. This is for ease of roleplaying.
- If your wolf is shapeshifter, they must be recognizable in their other form(s), even if the other forms are not animals. For example, all versions of your wolf may have a certain eye color or marking.
- No "trippy" or outright idiotic designs; e.g., orange fur with pink polka dots, white with black swirls that create optical illusions, tie-dye rainbows etc. Your wolf is still a living creature, and crazy designs like that turn them into toys or, frankly, mindfucks.
- What is and is not allowed is entirely up to whoever reviews your application. The staff team here is carefully selected, and if they choose not to accept a design or a power, then it is rejected. If your application is rejected or if a staffer asks you to change the application, and the staffer involved is NOT me, you may appeal to me ONCE for a second opinion via PM. If I concur, then you will have to change your application.
+ An application, separate from a new character application, must be submitted and accepted in order for your wolf to gain magical abilities. This can be completed at any time, including during character creation. Both forms are included in the character creation form, so you only need to fill out the magic application if you have previously played as a Tynsen and wish to add magic to your game, or if you wish to change the existing magical capabilities of your character.
